The Avon Club

The Avon Club is a social and community service organization with membership open to women age 18 or over who live or work in the Avonworth School District. Avon Club holds a number of activities designed to raise funds for location nonprofits and community groups. Some of these activities include:

  • Fall Festival: A street fair in downtown Ben Avon that features crafters, food, music and fun. It is usually held in late September or early October on a Saturday.
  • House Tour: Avon Club has hosted a number of house tours that feature leading homes in Ben Avon. Last year's tour was during the Christmas season.
  • Avon Eaters: Approximately four times a year, members of Avon Club and their spouses meet at local homes for an elaborate dinner and libations.
  • Avonworth Scholarship: Each year, the Club presents two deserving young women a college scholarship.

Avonworth Historical Society

Avonworth Historical Society is dedicated to documenting the history of the Avonworth community and its future development, providing a sense of history and place for upcoming generations. Our purpose is to collect the artifacts, stories and images from the original settlers to those of its newest inhabitants. We aspire to chronicle the progression of our original communities of Ben Avon, Ben Avon Heights, Emsworth, as well as the transition of Ohio and Kilbuck Townships from rural areas into vibrant new communities.


Community Theatre Players

Community Theatre Players is an organization that seeks to give interested persons the opportunity to participate in the staging and performance of plays and to offer the community at large quality theater productions on a regular basis.

CTP has been staging productions in Ben Avon since 1989. Currently, we produce one major play in the fall and several smaller events throughout the year. CTP is always looking for people to work at all levels of production, including actors, set constructors, painters, decorators, costumers, stage crew, lighting, sound, ushers, and many other roles. North Suburban Chamber of Commerce (N.S.C.o.C.)

The NSCoC represents a wide variety of businesses in the North Boroughs area of Pittsburgh, PA. These businesses are situated in seven municipalities just north Pittsburgh including Avalon, Bellevue, Ben Avon, Ben Avon Heights, Emsworth, Kilbuck, and Ohio Township. The goal of the N.S.C.o.C. is to provide businesses, churches, and nonprofit organizations with benefits, marketing and networking opportunities to help keep them competitive in today’s commercial markets. Additionally, the NSCoC also provides its members with a host of other benefits including monthly networking meetings, advertising and promotional events, an interactive web site linking visitors to member’s home web pages, mail permit availability, cooperative ventures, opportunities to voice views to municipal officials, and sponsorship of community-wide events.
